Mr. Wallace To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the estimated effect to date of tax cuts announced in his Budget on the balance of payments.

Mr. Major I expect the cuts in income tax rates to improve the United Kingdom’s economic performance, and so to increase output and exports.
